Forum to Raise Money for Charity

The RSAC Scottish Rally is renowned as one of the toughest and most challenging forest rallies in Scotland, but for a select band of drivers and co-drivers the sternest test will come before the cars have event crossed the start ramp. On the evening of Friday, 20 June, the rally will hold a forum in the showroom of Dumfries’ James Haugh Subaru dealership, where some of the top stars of the past and present will field questions about life on the stages.

As well as giving the public a chance to hear about the exploits of former World Ladies Rally Champion Louise Aitken-Walker and British rising star David Bogie, the forum is aiming to raise money for two very significant charities. Firstly, proceeds from the evening will go to charities established in honour of the late, great Colin McRae, idol to thousands of rally fans. Furthermore, additional donations will be made to the Childrens’ Ward (Ward 15) at Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary. To help boost the contribution the event is making to these two very special causes, a raffle will follow the question and answer session, with rally-related prizes coming from as far afield as Citroen Total Sport, the M-Sport world rally team and Subaru.

Also ready for examination by compere Bob Milloy are Castle Douglas’ Kirsty Riddick, who has earned a reputation as one of the top young co-drivers in Britain and can regularly be found in the hot seat everywhere from Inverness to the Isle of Man, and Newton Stewart driver Mark McCulloch, leader of the ultra-competitive one-make Brick and Steel 205 Ecosse Challenge after three rounds. And of course, all of the latest Subaru models will be on display as a fitting backdrop inside the Haugh showroom.

Doors open at the Subaru dealership at 7.00pm, and tickets will be sold at the door. Before then, however, the rally team will be out on the streets of Dumfries on Saturday, 14 June to promote the event with a Preview Day just next to the Mid Steeple on the High Street – local enterprises and rally competitors will be in attendance, and programmes should be available for sale. In the meantime, come back to www.scottishrally.co.uk to hear about all the rally news as it happens.
